Initially a combined effort of several private developers in Russia and Ukraine produced a number of services such as a poll platform and a free Guestbook platform. A professional CMS script (WoCatalog Pro) was also introduced. After almost a year of development, on October 29, 2005, the first version of the system was launched in the Russian language. In June 2007, the English version started its official work, followed by the German version in August 2007 and by several other regional versions later on.

Today, uCoz remains especially popular in the Russian-speaking part of the Web. According to Alexa Internet rating of the most popular Russian sites, uCoz took the 8th place outranked only by popular news sites, search engines and e-mail services, making it by far the most popular CMS in the Russian-language segment of the Internet...
